On February 10th, 2023, the college of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE College) at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) hosts the Kyushu-Taiwan semiconductor delegation. This is the largest foreign delegation that NYCU's ECE college has received in recent years. A total of 40 members of the delegation are represented by different institutes of Kyushu, including the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry as well as universities and businesses.

During this visit, Kyushu and Taiwan strengthen their partnership for development, share the development of Taiwan's semiconductor human resources, and expand mutual exchanges between educational institutions. NYCU, as a leading university in Taiwan for cultivating semiconductor talent, is honored to have been selected as the academic institution to host the Kyushu-Taiwan semiconductor delegation. Vice Chancellor Ta-Sung Lee, Vice Chancellor Jenn-Hwan Tarng, and Dean of the ECE college Li-Chun Wang are the principal representatives of NYCU at the meeting. The director of the Institute of Electronics, Prof. Po-Hung Chen, a graduate of the Tokyo University, delivers a brief presentation entitled "Introduction to Semiconductor Talent Cultivation at NYCU" in Japanese and several questions are also raised by the visitors from Kyushu. After the presentation, a lively discussion takes place between the Kyushu and NYCU sides, with topics ranging from industry-university collaboration to stimulating student interest in semiconductor technologies.

Knowledge translation pertaining to semiconductor talent cultivation provided by NYCU's ECE college is of great benefit to the delegation, and it is also of great significance to the preparation for the TSMC factory in Kyushu. All delegation members express high appreciation for the meeting. Additionally, according to the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry, it will facilitate collaborations between the educational sector and the industry sector in Kyushu and NYCU as well as promote the development and research of semiconductors in the future.
