A delegation from Arizona State University (ASU) recently visited National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) College of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The visit was marked by engaging presentations and discussions, highlighting the common goals and potential for collaboration between the two institutions.

During the visit, ASU, represented by Dr. David Allee, Associate Director and Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, and Dr. Krishendu Chakrabarty, Fulton Professor of Microelectronics in the same school, delivered an impressive introduction about ASU to their NYCU counterparts. This introduction helped to establish a strong foundation for potential collaborations and exchanges between the two universities.

In response, Prof. Li-Chun Wang, Dean of ECE College at NYCU, delivered a brilliant presentation about NYCU's ECE College, outlining its accomplishments and areas of expertise. This exchange of knowledge and insights set the stage for a productive partnership.

ASU's emphasis on its proximity to leading-edge chip manufacturers like TSMC and Intel, which resonates with NYCU ECE's position in close proximity to the semiconductor industry, underscored the potential for fruitful cooperation between the institutions.

Both ASU and NYCU ECE are committed to addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a common theme that emerged during the discussions. Dr. Oswald Chong, Associate Professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at ASU, shared insights into ASU's initiatives related to urban infrastructure, clean water, clean air, and advanced construction techniques.

The ASU delegation also had the opportunity to meet with students from NYCU's International Graduate Program(IGP). The students' internationalization and academic excellence left a lasting impression on the ASU delegation, highlighting the potential for fruitful collaboration in the future.

This visit marked the initiation of collaboration between ASU and NYCU, with discussions centering on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will lay the groundwork for future joint projects. Both institutions are excited about the prospects of cultivating global talents and fostering international partnerships, further strengthening their commitment to addressing pressing global challenges. The visit not only solidified the partnership but also sparked optimism about the potential for groundbreaking research and academic initiatives on a global scale.
